About Sketchmochi Studio

Sketchmochi Studio was the result of a few wisps of inspiration, the boredom of a pandemic, and my desire to have my hobby actually be useful. I've always been the type to need to *do* something, and hated how drawing for myself never really seemed productive enough. I discovered the world of online sticker shops, and wondered if I could do that, too.

I grew my portfolio with many designs inspired by the games and shows I loved, from Valorant to Demon Slayer to Animal Crossing New Horizons, and when I started selling at markets, I realized I loved it them even more than I loved selling online!

It's always been about the looks of excitement and awe on my customer's faces when they saw a character they loved, or their desire to send photos of my products to their friends or family. It just fueled my desire to create more, and see more people smile. I hope to always continue making art that brightens peoples' days!

More About my Journey:

Extra detail because I had more to share!

I first created Sketchmochi Studio at the beginning of the pandemic as a way to start sharing my art with the world. I had left my college to go back home to my parents' house, and felt restless. My favorite show at the time, Avatar the Last Airbender, was having a resurgence of popularity, and many of my friends mentioned wanting stickers of some of the characters. To test the waters, I created some designs and shared them with my friends, who loved them so much that they encouraged me to open an online shop, and that's where my Etsy began!

Throughout the pandemic, I grew my portfolio with many designs inspired by the games and shows I loved, from Valorant to Demon Slayer to Animal Crossing New Horizons. It turned out that some of my designs were actually relatively popular on Etsy, so by the time school was held in person again, my little shop had almost doubled in size. In December of 2021, I was accepted into my university's Maker's Fair, and that was the first time I was able to sell my designs in person. I set up my table with just a tablecloth and a few piles of stickers, decorated with a strand of fairy lights, and tried to have low expectations in order to avoid being disappointed.

To my surprise, people almost immediately started gasping at my designs and grabbing their friends to come take a look. I sold out of almost every sticker I had on display, and came out of that experience ridiculously happy. It wasn't the fact that I'd sold out of my designs that brought me joy - but rather the looks of excitement and awe on my customer's faces when they saw a character they loved, or their desire to send photos of my products to their friends or family. I witnessed for the first time just how happy my art could make people, and that only fueled my desire to create more.

In the last two years, I've attended many more makers fairs, and each time I've adored seeing how peoples' eyes light up when they see my products. I hope to always continue making art that brightens peoples' days! Please enjoy browsing my website :)
